Complete Your Smile and Restore your Self-confidence with Porcelain Dental Bridges
Missing a tooth sucks! It not only damages your smile but also hampers your oral functionality, from eating to speaking. But today, losing a tooth to injury or oral disease shouldn’t be a big deal — there are several tooth replacement options available to close that gap. We use porcelain dental bridges and crowns to replace missing teeth at Granite Bay Dentistry.
What are porcelain bridges?
A dental bridge, sometimes called a fixed partial denture, uses a set of false teeth (pontics) anchored between two healthy teeth. Dental crowns are used to secure a bridge in place for stability. Dental bridges are excellent for replacing one or more missing teeth in a row. These tooth replacements were the mainstream of replacing teeth until dental implants were invented about three decades ago.
Dental bridges are excellent at replacing lost teeth because they have numerous benefits, including:
- Restore oral functionality
- Are long-lasting
- They aren’t cumbersome to maintain
- Porcelain dental bridges are natural-looking
- Restore confidence
- Versatile to replace one or more missing teeth, whether at the back or front of the mouth
Ultimately, we use fixed dental bridges to improve your appearance and replace teeth where bone density is missing for a dental implant.
Dental bridges
A bridge is a non-surgical way to replace one or many teeth. A bridge uses the adjacent teeth as anchors to support the missing tooth or teeth. With today’s dental advancements, a bridge can be fabricated in a fairly short period of time, using a metal or nonmetal foundation. Don’t let that missing tooth affect the way you speak, eat, and smile. Bridges yield immediate results that last a lifetime. Ask your dentist what type of bridge may be right for you.
How long does the procedure for getting bridges typically take?
Here at Granite Bay Dentistry, we’re experts in delivering top-notch dental bridges. These restorations can bring back your smile if you’ve lost some teeth. Generally, getting bridges involves a couple of visits or more, depending on your specific situation. On your first visit, we’ll prepare the teeth on both sides of the gap and make a digital scan. This is to make sure your bridge will be a perfect fit. This visit tends to last between one and two hours. After that, the bridge is custom made in a dental lab, which usually takes between one to two weeks. Once your bridge is ready, you’ll come back for a second visit. During this visit, we’ll fit and adjust the bridge. This visit also typically lasts about one hour. We know your time is precious and we’re committed to offering efficient and effective treatments for all our patients. Our team is highly skilled and experienced, ensuring your procedure is as smooth as possible.

What to expect from the dental bridge procedure?
You need at least two dental visits to get dental bridges from Dr. Colby Smith. The initial appointment is where much of the magic happens. We evaluate your oral health to rule out gum disease and cavities. If your dental health is in a perfect state, we shave down the adjacent teeth and take your bite impressions which a dental lab will use to fabricate your custom-made bridge. While you wait for your tooth replacement, we will install a temporary bridge to protect the prepped teeth.
In the second appointment, we will fix your permanent bridges and make any adjustments for a perfect fit. Finally, we cement the bridges in place, and you can now enjoy your complete, newfound smile.
